Vibration Power Generation Property of U-Shaped Unimorph Device Using Grain-Oriented Electrical Steel

The performance of vibration power generation using the inverse magnetostrictive effect increases with increasing its device size. In this study, grain-oriented electrical steel that can be largely produced was investigated as a core material, U-shaped unimorph at laboratory scale. (16 mm long 1.4 mm2 cross-section) rolling direction (RD) along stress exhibited effective open-circuit voltage 0.89 V under an optimum bias magnetic field, when free-end vibrated maximum amplitude 2.0 mechanical resonance frequency 108 Hz. addition, average output 300 µW obtained by adjusting load resistance. above-mentioned properties RD were superior to those transverse (TD) device, because flux density change in approximately 0.65 T, which larger than TD core. Therefore, is useful material for developing large-sized devices high performance.
